DR.PREPARE 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 Battery, Lithium ...

I am buying a 4th one of these working on building a power bank for outages etc. It has taken some time to save up and aquire the 4 I am needing. I will have 3 with meters and one with out the meter. I hope they all can equal out ok once I get them in a parallel set up. You should not mix different brands if you are setting up a bank.
I studied for quite sometime on lithium phosphate batteries. Even a little over a year ago they were still very expensive with named brands etc. Now they are coming down to a reasonable price. However not all brands are built with the same quality! Look on you tube and see some guys taking batteries apart and revealing some troubling quality issues on certain brands. The DR prepare seemed to be one of the best. It boast a quality BMS by Texas Instruments design. It also has both cold and hot safety features for charging and discharging etc. See Hobo Tech on Dr Prepare Battery review. I obviously wanted a meter to give some kind of information of the battery status and Dr prepare was the only one I saw that had this feature.
After charging with an appropriate 14.4 volt charger which is the limit you can charge these types of batteries, I then did a amp hour test with a 400 watt load and a watt meter. It ran the 400 watt load of 35 amps for right at about 3 hours so yes clearly has 100ah capacity.
Here is the main thing you need to know about this battery and what the meter reads! When you charge it up it will read 100% However after a minute or so it will read like 95% when I put the 400 watt load on it and power loss to the inverter it was 35 amps being drawn. Immediately the power meter drops from 95% to 87% from there is slowly drops but also accelerants in percentage loss as time goes on. This is the point I want to be clear on.
ONCE THE BATTERY REACHED 50% THE PERCENTAGE DROPPED LIKE A ROCK! With in 10 minutes with the 400 watt load at 50 percentage the battery was exhausted. I am not bad mouthing the battery just saying if you are at 50% you pretty much close to being zero! So anyway from 90 to 55% is really the usable range under a moderate load. In charging with an amp hour meter it measure a little more then 100 ah going back in to the battery so again definitely confirms 100ah capacity. Hope this gives someone some food for thought if you are wanting to build a power back up off grid system.
