One object: 4. When an One object is placed on the surface. There will be less light accessing some of the opto transistors. This will be reflected by a reading that is lower then the read when no object is present. The reading of the photo transistor array (it is an array reflecting the read from each opto transistor) will provide information about: 4.1. How many opto transistors are completely shaded (off) 4.2. What opto transistor are effected
Please note: A reading from one LED is not sufficient to know the object position
To get object location we need two reading (one from LEDa and one from LEDb). Now, we can calculate the object Position and Size since we know the geometry of the screen.
Two Objects: Now each array may have "holes" (there will be two groups) in the shaded area. These holes will indicate that there is an additional object.
If the objects are closed to each other the holes may not be seen. However, there are many LEDs. So there will be multiple arrays (one for each LED) and based on the presented geometry these holes may be seen by some of the LEDs.

Do you know what is Infrared (IR) Touch Technology and Projected Capacitive Touch (PCAP) Technology?
1. Infrared (IR) Touch Technology
Infrared touch technology uses a frame placed around the display. The frame consists of infrared LEDs situated on two sides of the screen and phototransistors placed on the opposing two sides. The signal from one LED is read by its corresponding phototransistor; when that signal is blocked, it means there's an object in between, AKA a touch point. A physical touch isnt actually required, just a break in the plane of the IR signal, although the frame is usually mounted quite close to the display.
Advantages: Less expensive than other options, permits good visibility, high durability, IR overlays can be used with existing non-touch displays, Any physical object including gloved hands can be used
Disadvantages: Not as precise as other technologies; can be affected by ambient light, dust, debris, weather
2. Projected Capacitive Touch (PCAP) Technology
Projected Capacitive touch technology is unrivaled in responsiveness and offers a sleek, edge-to-edge glass design. (Youve seen it on your mobile .) PCAP touch works by detecting the coordinates of a finger's touch point on the LCD panel through a fixed sensor grid between the cover glass and panel. This makes it much more precise than other technologies, which can be easily disrupted by things like dust or debris on the screen surface.
IRTOUCH contains other products and information you need, so please check it out.
Advantages: Very precise, good durability
Disadvantages: Much more expensive than infrared; will not work with gloved hands or physical objects
